Wisconsin - River Falls
River Falls

The Smokestack rises at the west corner of the Winter Street bridge over the Kinnickinnic River. It dates to 1879, the last original part of the 1867 Junction Mill (still a power plant though).

Looking southwest from there along the river as it flows over the dam (again, not original).

University of Wisconsin - River Falls has two historic buildings on campus. North Hall is the newer of the two, as I walk west along Cascade Avenue.

My favorite part of North Hall is the "keystone" above the south side windows where the building indents. They smile back.

Saving the oldest for last, you can see the history here. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1897 and rebuilt. Despite its name, this actually was UWRF all along - public colleges and universities in Wisconsin started as State Normal Schools in the 19th century before agglomerating into UW.

A few architectural details of this beauty.
