Washington - Ellensburg

Ellensburg

Saving the best for first, the 1929 Windmill Service Station (and Auto Court Hotel, though that part is gone now) still stands at Capitol Avenue and Main Street, the latter of which is Business I-90 so that travelers entering Ellensburg can still easily pass by this relic. Lamentably, the blades no longer turn in order to protect the aging structure.

What is this place? Things take a turn for the weird at Dick and Jane's Spot, 101 North Pearl Street. Dick and Jane are the names of the founders, who graduated with art degrees from Central Washington University together. My photos reflect 35 years of art as of 2013, but it's still going as long as Jane carries on (Dick passed away in 2008; there are also guest artists).
