Victoria - St. Patrick's Cathedral

St. Patrick's Cathedral, Melbourne

Approaching the cathedral from the west. This is the tallest and largest (by area) church in Australia. It first opened in 1858, in pieces: the nave followed in 1868, consecration was in 1897, but the last piece was added all the way in 1939.

Views of other, very pointy sides of the church.

Details at the top of the tallest spire.

Architectural details around the building. The last three photos are all various parts of the main doorway.

Let's end our visit with some creepy faces. Yes, there are tiny faces on either side of the main stained glass window. They're also there on either side of the main door. I didn't know Greek imps were Christian.
