Victoria - State Route 46

State Route 46, Melbourne

The 1899 Sacred Heart Catholic Church is at the corner of Rathdowne and Pelham Streets in Carlton. It was intended to be built with a larger rear dome, but these are the only two that made it.

The 1884 Carlton Gardens Primary School, still a primary school in 2020.

The 1890 Rathdowne Tavern, at Rathdowne and Neill Streets in Carlton, is no longer a tavern, but at least survives. The other photos are just south of there.

While taking a road photo heading west along Alexandra Parade, I caught a couple of older houses at Young Street in Fitzroy.

The 1888 Grandview Hotel is at the corner of Station Street in Fairfield. I have no clue whose statue that is.

Driving south past the old Tower Hotel, at the corner of Old Heidelberg Road in Alphington. As far as I can tell, it's still disused and graffitied.

The old fire station, now a restaurant, is at #77 Upper Heidelberg Road in the suburb of Ivanhoe.

Apparently, The Centre Ivanhoe used to be Town Hall in the City of Heidelberg, but since that city no longer exists, the building has been outfitted as a performance venue. (Why did a city have a "town" hall?)
