Tasmania - Queenstown

Queenstown

The welcome sign is several kilometres east of town on Lyell Highway. At least you tried, Queenstown.

First in town, the ANZAC memorial to various wars, but the front of it was the original part for the World War. Note the end date of 1919, coinciding with the Treaty of Versailles, not the end of armed conflict.

The Empire Hotel predates that, born in 1901. It sits at Orr, Driffield, and McNamara Streets.

In 1932, Paragon touted itself as "the city theatre in the country." Now it's a café.
