Oklahoma - Guthrie

Guthrie

Although the main east-west road through town is Noble Avenue (OK Highway 33), Oklahoma Avenue is where it's at for downtown. This historic building is at the corner of Division Street (US Route 77) right at the center of the city.

Looking west along Oklahoma Avenue from there.

Proceeding eastward on Oklahoma Avenue, past the old Carnegie Library (with the dome) to the Junior High School.

Oklahoma Avenue ends at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple, which was probably built after the street grid was completed because the next segment of Oklahoma Avenue heads straight east out of town. This is probably why, as I noted above, Noble Avenue became the main arterial.
