Oklahoma - Eve 6
SWOSUpalooza: Eve 6 in Weatherford, 4/14/11

While I was driving old US 66 through western Oklahoma, I passed through Weathersfield and discovered that my favorite band was playing locally. What are the odds? Then I realized: Today's the 14th. That sign says the 14th. My favorite band is playing tonight and I'm staying just 40 miles east in El Reno. But with a catch - I'm driving old US 66 to get there, which I need to do by daylight to see the sights, and I'm meeting friend and site contributor Jeremy Lance for dinner there. Since I can't just stop for the show, I sped up my car to shh mph and gave him a buzz to work it all out. A quick bite with my good friend, maybe I checked into the hotel, then back to Weatherford the fastest way on I-40 (at shh plus 5 mph). And as you see, I made it in time.
Shout out to Green Corn Revival, the local rock band who opened for Eve 6. Nowadays I'd snag a few shots of the opening band even if I didn't know them, but back in 2011 I wasn't as experienced with concert photography.

If you know Eve 6, you'll know most of this set list. A combination of their most popular first two albums, plus the unfortunately less-well received It's All in Your Head that led to their 2004 breakup, plus a few new songs I didn't know at the time. What you may be learning for the first time, as I did when writing this page, is that this was the reunion show! Max Collins (vocals, bass, head honcho) and Tony Fagenson (drums) took some time to get their lives in order and regrouped as the short-lived "Sugi Tap." In 2007, they came back to Eve 6 but with a different guitarist, which just wouldn't have felt the same. Jon Siebels (backup vocals, guitar) was busy writing and playing on side projects the whole time, and finally agreed to rejoin the band in 2011 - and I was there for it.

The band takes the stage.

I don't have a whole lot to narrate separately, so just enjoy all of my concert photos in the order I took them. Max Collins is the closest to me in the red shirt, Jon Siebels is back and to the left in plaid, and Tony is always behind the drums as one might expect.

Okay, I'll give you these details separately.

Bonus: My prize for attending. (Was a drumstick, but also this photo with Tony, Jon, and Max.)
