New Zealand - Patea

Patea

All photos are taken along Highway 3, Egmont Street, between Stafford and Victoria Streets.

The 1923 post office - I mean, post & telegraph, even though telephones had been invented by then.

The 1930 library. Yes, Paepae in the Park is an actual thing. Yes, I choose to pronounce it the way you are also pronouncing it in your head, even though we both know that's not really how it is. But if you go there drunk, it becomes one and the same.

Just to the right of the library, Aotea Waka is a 1933 remembrance sculpture commemorating one of the canoes that carried the Ma̅ori to Aotearoa from eastern Polynesia in the 13th century.
