All photos were taken heading west. The Buller Gorge divides the Paparoa Range (south, generally left) and Mt. William Range (north, generally right).

The road proceeds through some rock cuts just west of Kilkenny Lookout (site of the first photo), and I did stop very briefly in the middle to grab the third photo as it was framed just right. Sorry, oncoming trucks! For some rock tunnel photos of interest, head over to the Highway 6 roads page.


I couldn't decide which of the last two photos I like better, so I kept both. What do you think?


At the next bend west from Kilkenny, the parallel railroad cuts across a small ravine and waterfalls appear just to the west of it. Again, if you want to see that bridge, you want the roads page. This here's Non-Roads.


The last 3 photos are the closest I came to an actual panorama on this page. The last photo looks back east/upriver.


The Ohikanui River bridge is nigh, as we near the end of the gorge. The last two photos are another left/right pair.
