New South Wales - Katoomba - Echo Pt./3 Sisters

Katoomba and Blue Mountains -
Echo Point and Three Sisters

You know it's good if the Queen likes it. God Save the Queen.

The Giant Stairway is really just a way to let tourists erode an old landmark more quickly.

Continue down the Stairway and you will find yourself on the tallest of the Three Sisters. She appears to have acne. The sign at the end of the stairs prohibits abseiling or climbing. Shame, that was my favorite abseiling spot.

Two views from Giant Stairway, the first at the back of the second Sister, and the second past there at Mt. Solitary, which you'll see more of in a moment.

Gum also begins with G, and this is a tree thereof.

Looking west from the Giant Stairway at - well, first, at the rock wall right next to me made of the same stuff as the Sisters - and, then, at the northern reaches of Kedumba Walls, which continue south along the Kedumba River and Jamison Valley for some distance.

Circling around Kedumba Walls from there to the south, starting at Sublime Point (the closest outcropping).

Up from the base of the walls to Mount Solitary, which is just that as it stands in the middle of the Kedumba River basin.

Panning from there to the west, Mount Solitary trails off into Korrowall Knife Edge, which comes to the low point highlighted in the 4th photo and comes back up again as Ruined Castle Ridge. Ruined Castle Ridge becomes Castle Head, with Cedar Head behind it (penultimate photo), and Malaita Point to the far right in the last photo.

Some views of Malaita Point.

I had to save the Sisters for last. It looks like there's an embryonic fourth Sister in development to the right, but since the cliffs weather from the front back, it's actually the remains of Grandma. Click on the first photo for a closeup you could use as a desktop background, but only with proper attribution and royalty payments each time you view it.
