Big Things

Nothing dominates the landscape quite like a sheep as tall as the mountains. The 15 metre Big Merino is in Goulburn.

Robertson doesn't have the only Big Potato, but it has the most approachable. Alps included for scale.

On to Maroubra Beach in the Sydney suburb of Maroubra for the Big Rubik's Cube. It's solid concrete, so play gently. The first photo looks north at Mistral Point and the last photo looks south at Magic Point.

It's appropriate that the recycled-looking Big Bicycle is at the Resource Recovery Park in Chullora.

I'm not sure whether this counts as a Big Globe or just a random Earth along Highway A2 at Junction Road in Riverstone.

The Big Miner's Safety Lamp is along the Great Western Highway in Lithgow.

The Big Flower has its own nursery in Ourimbah. It looks less happy the closer you get.

The Big Prawn in Crangan Bay was left isolated by October 2013 fires that shut its gas station along Pacific Highway (A43). It was then moved to a less fire-ravaged location.

Staying on that highway, Ossie the Mossie, a.k.a. the Big Mosquito, is by the Hexham Bowling Cub.

Perhaps the most useful of the Big Things, the Big Sundial is at Rose Point Park in Singleton.

Continuing north, the Big Blue Heeler of Muswellbrook and the tourist trappy Big Golden Guitar of Tamworth, both along the New England Highway (A15).

Without leaving that highway, check out the Big Chook in Moonbi and the Big Soldier in Uralla. The Aussie slang for "chook" should be obvious.

This page came in like a sheep and goes out like a lamb. The Big Lamb is in Guyra, but is not quite 15 metres tall.
