Turning left to look south. The landscape can appear rather Martian at times.

Looking north and west on State Road 9. It's the same road, just now maintained by the state instead of the county. (I highly recommend it as an alternative to Interstate 10, if you travel that way. Lots of Border Patrol, but they don't bother you, and there's no one else on the road. Including traffic enforcers. Also easier to stop and take photos than on a freeway.)

Two more northward photos. It took six minutes to go from "interesting hills ahead" to "interesting hills on the right." Sight distance is unparalleled out here.

All looking north, and a rare desert bovine sighting. Maybe they thought they were eating dessert?
