Kansas - Winfield

Winfield

If I define "downtown" as the corner of Main Street (US Highway 77) and 9th Avenue (US Highway 160), then this is on the northeast corner of downtown.

The southeast and southwest corners of downtown, respectively, with bonus closeup.

The First Presbyterian Church is two blocks south and one block east of downtown along Millington Street.

The First Baptist Church is catty-corner to the northeast. This corner must really be happenin' on Sundays at 11 AM.

Edging closer back to downtown, I'm a block north on Millington Street at 10th Avenue, first looking west toward Main Street then toward the northeast corner.

The northwest and northeast corners of Millington Street at 9th Avenue. I'm now a block east of the previously defined downtown.

First looking north at the two southern corner buildings, then presenting them in order: southeast, southwest, and two closeups of the latter.

A colorful pair of buildings to the east on 9th Avenue.

East, ever east, to the fire department at Fuller Street.

The J.P. Hackney House is #417 E. 10th Avenue, built in 1886 for its namesake in the "Vernacular" style. This consists of rough-hewn limestone blocks, in this case stacked with smaller cuts on top.
