Connecticut - Bridgeport Sound Tigers

Bridgeport Sound Tigers

Photos are from the November 11, 2012 game vs. the Connecticut Whale. Unfortunately for you, but not so badly for me, I had great seats near the ice and behind the Plexiglas.

Warmups, featuring future Rangers Marek Hrivik, Chris Kreider, and J.T. Miller.

If you inflate a tiger and only Devils fans (at a Rangers/Islanders minor league game?) are around to see it, does it make a roar?

Play begins, and while I didn't get the nearly immediate opening goal, I captured the next one. Future Islanders include Brock Nelson on the faceoff and Anders Nilsson in goal. Nino Niederreiter (#22, on the ground after the goal) is a successful Wild.

Everything up to the second period faceoff. Follow the puck.

A wild scrum ensues after Sound Tiger Colin McDonald boards Whale(r) Jyri Niemi, who is eventually carted off on a stretcher. After an all-out brawl, future Ranger Cam Talbot regroups as Niemi is tended to.

More scenes from the second period. #9 Ryan Bourque has played only one game at the NHL level so far, but is still notable for being part of the successful Bourque family. Only 21 during this game and 25 as I write this caption, he still has a shot to outdo his brother Chris' up and down career.

Assorted photos from the quieter third period. The Sound Tigers came back to win 4-3 after the Whale couldn't capitalize on the 5-minute advantage from the McDonald major and then took penalties of their own.

Unrelated, but this old warehouse is just south of the arena on Whiting Street, so until I have a separate Bridgeport page, it lives here.
