British Columbia Parliament Buildings

Heading west on Belleville Street past the Parliament Buildings, which as far as I can tell is just one building with several wings. It/they were built in 1898 to replace wooden buildings known as "The Birdcages" due to their shape. Those burned in 1957, eventually validating the expense to move.

An assortment of monuments and such: Korean War, Queen Victoria, Sir James Douglas (first Governor of BC), random totem pole (because something needs to acknowledge the pre-European history here).

Some architectural details from the front of the building.

Going around the west side now (Menzies Street) with some more details. Note the birds atop the fountain near the sign discussing the predecessor "Birdcages" buildings.
