British Columbia - Chetwynd

Chetwynd

Chetwynd is best known for its series of wood carvings along Highway 97 through town, so I'll do all of those in a sequence at the end. Starting with the rest:

This isn't a wood carving, it's a woman riding a giant beetle. Nothing to see here.

This hillock north of downtown is the backdrop for a few carvings.

Before I lay them all out for you, here's an idea of the density of the carvings. All of these are before the welcome sign - does that make them unofficial?

All of the carvings I photographed. Many are in the grass next to the highway on either side, but some are farther afield near businesses and I'm sure I missed plenty on side streets. The eagle on the bear is my favorite from an artistic perspective (about halfway through).
