Arizona - I-8 scenery (eastern)

Eastern Interstate 8 scenery

Photos progress westward from the east end of the freeway in Casa Grande.

Starting off looking southwest.

And north.

Now alongside the first set of mountains, looking south.

Interesting formations to the north at Exit 151.

A couple of geological closeups from the third photo in the previous run.

Some of these rocks may look unique to say the least, if not discomfiting, but formations like this are so common across the desert that this doesn't even seem to have a name. I propose "Sleeping Lion."

Meanwhile, the scenery to the north is safe for children.

Getting closer to the background as I pass Sleeping Lion. In the distance is "Awake Lioness."

North.

Interesting shapes on the southern horizon.

Usually the water illusion from heat rising off the road is something you see. Apparently it works on camera lenses too.

Sorry, but I never claimed my site was safe for the whole family. Parental discretion advised. Or use this as a convenient opportunity for The Talk.

Here's what's going on to the north. Keep your 6-year old turned this way.

More appropriate views to the south and west.

One more look north.

Not to the same degree as before, but the south remains more risqué.
