West Virginia Roads - I-470

Above: Chapel Rd. SB at Exit 2, courtesy Adam Prince. I-470 was built to allow trucks and through traffic to bypass the Wheeling Tunnel, where I-70 drops down to one lane through interchanges on either side. It's posted with a higher speed limit both to encourage through traffic and because it's much better designed.

Welcome to West Virginia, land of cool bridges, strange milemarkers, and more state-name shields than you can shake a non-state name shield at. The bridge is Chapel Rd. at Exit 2.

Same bridge, WB.

The left and right sides of the EB end of the road.

The first WB shield as I-470 diverges from I-70 Exit 5A.
