Virginia Roads - US 250 - E. of Waynesboro

US 250 east of Waynesboro

EB in October leaving Waynesboro.

WB in April at the Blue Ridge Parkway.

WB at the east end of Brooksville Rd. (SR 796), an old alignment of US 250, and SR 796 EB.

The next old alignment, Hillsboro Ln., is conveniently numbered SR 797. This is the west end of that road, cut off by I-64.

Westbound from Ivy to the SR 797-related interchange in Yancey Mills. Like in Staunton, we have another C&O Railroad crossing whose logo is at least 40 years old (as of 2013). The trestle truss is at the east end of VA 240, which is the original alignment of US 250 through Crozet before the next stretch of Rockfish Gap Tpk. was completed in the 1930s.

SR 786, seen at its west end, was the old alignment of US 250 that crossed said railroad at-grade. The footbridge is presumably about the same age as US 250's underpass.

WB on the bypass (or by-pass, since we're all in the 19th century suddenly) around Charlottesville, then continuing off of it.

Westbound from Three Chopt Rd. in Short Pump to the outskirts of Charlottesville. Virginia is very insistent that you find I-64. The three references you see here are each two minutes apart.

Fine. You want I-64, you got it. This is WB through the eastern Charlottesville interchange (I-64 Exit 124).

A few more WB photos west of Richmond and the US 33 concurrency (see big link below). The divided highway sign is clearly upside-down.

East of the end of US 33, this is westbound at Belvidere St., US 1/301.

14th St. NB at US 250 in Richmond, and then continuing around and under 250 via a loop ramp onto a tight urban trumpet interchange that once managed to fit a toll plaza in. There really wasn't room for this setup, and traffic increases year after year, so it's fortunate that the toll was removed years ago.

Just after beginning at US 360, US 250 heads under a pair of railroad overpasses and back up the other side.
