Texas Roads - Old US 67/TX Spur 302

Former US 67 and TX Spur 302

Photos progress westward.

Dawn in the east as I turn west onto old US 67 (northern I-30 frontage road) east of Sulphur Springs.

WB and EB at this Farm Road junction in Brashear. The former route is still signed as US 67 here, indicating just how recently US 67 was moved onto the freeway. Also notice the incorrect signage as "East" 67 instead of "North," an understandable mistake seeing as how it follows an east-west Interstate for hundreds of miles.

WB on Farm Road 499, which begins at the railroad overpass and proceeds through Cumby.

If this WB sign looks too modern to be on a former alignment (and to have multiple lanes?), that's because old US 67 is multiplexed with TX 24 and 50.

Looking west and south at the Hunt County Courthouse on Lee St. in Greenville, old US 67 and current TX 302 Spur. This courthouse should try Texas for moving US 67 out of town, because not having a major route in front of such a nice building is a crime.

In the next two blocks WB on old 67/Spur 302.
