Tennessee Roads - US 411/US 441

US 411 and US 411/441

The former US 411 in Madisonville still has the original US 411 reassurance up, with a haphazard TO above, as well as a very original TENN 68 reassurance marker. Heck, the state primary triangles are almost all gone (secondaries still use them), let alone those with state names inside. Photo courtesy Lou Corsaro.

It's all fun and games until someone goes to Rock City. The rounded TN 338 shield makes sure no one will lose an eye. This captures most of the US 411 SB/US 441 NB concurrency west of Sevierville.

This captures the rest of it. The two signs are on opposite sides of the signal.

But wait, there's more. For reasons unbeknownst to us, but only beknownst to Sevierville, this is 15.6. The next intersections east are 15.7 and 15.8, so this is clearly a signal numbering scheme, but it clearly should have remained internal and inconspicuous.

These newer and older signs are on the southeast corner of US 441 at Court St., signal 15.7.

Parkway NB at signal 15.8, becoming TN 448 across the intersection. The US shields are worse than the signal overheads.

The eastern stub end of Old Newport Highway (former US 411 NB) in Cherokee Hills.

Back west from the stub to an antique touch from L.G. Burchfield at the west end of the old alignment.
