Ontario Roads - TCH 11/17 - E. of McKenzie Station Rd.

Trans-Canada Highway 11/17 east of McKenzie Station Road, Thunder Bay

Stick around to the end of the page. There are some interesting things sprinkled throughout.

Heading north on McKenzie Heights Rd. to a future intersection with TCH 11/17.

Looking east along the new highway.

And looking west.

A southbound look at what already looks like an intersection.

This is now the end of Lakeshore Drive EB, curving north into new TCH 11/17 with the old road retained as a stub for access to Birch Beach Rd.

A WB sign showing just how close I was to my drive not being interesting. I was there on June 8. The new highway opened on July 26 (as near as I can gather).

Lakeshore Dr. EB comes back into the future alignment, and it's all twinning from there east for another 2 km or so, plus paving of the final tie-in point (hence the flagging zone). As of 2020, dualization has been extended east past Highway 587, but there is a lot more planned after that. However, full dualization east to the Highway 11/17 split is a long time away.

WB through the future beginning of dualization back to where the new alignment will leave what's becoming Lakeshore Dr.

A bonus EB secondary shield, missing the right arrow, for everyone who's stayed till the end of this page.
