8th St. WB in the middle of the Exit 1's, courtesy John Krakoff. The last photo is on Winchell Ave., which is a sort of NB frontage road for a bit north of 8th St. Ezzard Charles Drive was once Lincoln Park Drive, renamed for a boxer in 1976.


Lizards, those Interstate shields are Leapin' right off those signs! Not sure OHDOT has ever touched some of these signs, such as the very well preserved Exit 1H assembly. Then there are the quaint touches, like the black-background shields on the Exit 4 (unmarked all the way!) advance signs, and those strange greenouts for North Something. According to Dan Ficker, that was to have been US 127 as the Colerain Expressway, clearly dropped a long time ago (a couple of ramps exist). I pick up with the rest of the current NB button copy in Cincinnati for a couple of exits, first photo courtesy John Krakoff. What's Cinti? Why do 299 million Americans refer to the city as Cinci but it's abbreviated as Cinti for everyone in the metro area? Are they really right and the rest of us are really wrong? Cinti just sounds like a Mexican steelmaking conglomerate.

SB back through Cinci, all courtesy John Krakoff. One note - see how US 127 fell off the Exit 3 advance sign? Now that that's been replaced, ODOT just completely dropped 127 instead of fixing it on the new sign! The VMS within the sign panels are also gone now, so I guess they won't be used anymore for whatever they were ever used for.
