New Jersey Roads - Route Log - Multiplexes - 7/506, 507

NJ 7/CR 506, 7/CR 507, 7/506/507 Multiplexes

Southwestern End (7/506)

7/506 actually meet in Belleville at Belleville Ave. and Washington Ave.

Facing north on Washington Ave. (7 north/506 east) from Belleville Ave., with the other end just ahead at the next signal. Second photo taken 12/8/02 by Charlie O'Reilly.

506 east at 7.

7 north at 506; west is left and east is straight ahead.
Northeastern Actual End, Northwestern Signed End (7/506)

7/506 meet in Belleville at Rutgers St. and Washington Ave., but 7 is signed as continuing from the north onto Rutgers St. This is done for continuity with the eastern section of the route (signed east-west instead of north-south), which begins at NJ 21 along Rutgers St. It means that the entirety of the actual 7/506 multiplex is distinct from what is signed.

7 south at 506. 7 south officially continues straight on a multiplex with 506 west, but is signed to the left on a multiplex with 506 east. The other end is visible at the signal in the background because the multiplex is only one block long. Taken 12/8/02 by Charlie O'Reilly.

7 south/506 east reassurance signage. This is officially only 506 east. Taken 12/8/02 by Charlie O'Reilly.

506 west at 7; the 506 west/7 south multiplex is officially to the left. According to signage, though, this is 506 west/7 north at the end of their multiplex. Taken 12/8/02 by Charlie O'Reilly.

The actual 506 east/7 north multiplex where it diverges. To the right is the signed 506 east/7 south multiplex, officially only 506 east. Taken 12/8/02 by Charlie O'Reilly.
Southeastern Signed End, Historic Western End (7/506)

506 ends and the eastern section of 7 begins underneath NJ 21 in Belleville. Therefore this is the southeastern signed end of the 7/506 multiplex (because 506 ends here), but also the actual historic western end of the 7/506 multiplex (because 7 begins here and 506 used to continue east).

506 east ends at the NJ 21 overpass above and 7 east begins.

7 west ends across this drawbridge and 506 begins.

7 north/506 west reassurance signage as 506 begins. Officially, 7 west ended at the bridge just behind this photo and 7 north-south is straight ahead on Washington Ave. Second photo was taken 12/8/02 by Charlie O'Reilly.

Main St. south at 506 and 7, in the shadow of the NJ 21 freeway. 7 is to the left and 506 is to the right.
Northwestern End (7/507/Historic 506)

7/507 meet on the Kearny/North Arlington line. 506 historically followed 7 through here as well.

507 south at 7; note the N and S in the double arrow, even though the shields in the background (and other signage on this section of 7) are east-west. This is part of the confusion caused by having two sections of 7 signed in different directions. Taken 12/8/02 by Charlie O'Reilly.

7 west is ahead and 507 north turns right.

Missing 507 shield (and East sign for 7) heading away from that intersection in Kearny, Hudson County. 7 west/507 north are in N. Arlington, Bergen County. Taken 9/24/06.
Southeastern End (7/507/Historic 506)

7/507 meet on the Kearny/North Arlington line. 506 historically followed 7 through here as well.

7 east/507 south where they split (7 east continues straight ahead); this is the only sign that mentions Hudson County 507 (i.e. no signage to the south).

7 west (not north)/507 north reassurance signage, taken 11/28/02 by Charlie O'Reilly.

Schuyler Ave. (Bergen CR 11) south at 7/507. 7 east is to the left, 7 west/507 north is to the right, and 507 south is straight ahead. Taken 11/28/02 by Charlie O'Reilly.
Along the Historic Multiplex (7/506)

See the
NJ 7 page for photos.
Historic Eastern End (7/506)

506 historically ended where CR 508 still ends at their junction (with 7) in Kearny.

The end of 508 east, also the historic beginning of 506 west and still signed as the beginning of the 7/506 multiplex.

7 west where 506 used to begin and 508 still begins, before signage was replaced.

Replaced shields in 2005, still showing 506.
