NJ 87/Historic NJ S4A/Historic NJ S56 Ends

The southern section of NJ S4A was renumbered to S56 by 1945 once the northern section was cancelled. S56 was renumbered to 87 in 1953.
Southern End

87 ends at US 30 in Atlantic City.

87 south, taken by Scott Colbert.
Historic Southern End

Until the 1960s, 87 ended at US 30 in Atlantic City. It was then moved to its current alignment and this became 187 (which has since been realigned further).

This is now the end of 187 south at the Atlantic City Expwy. Brigantine Connector (446X). Since this didn't exist in the 1960s, 87 continued one block farther to 30. The NJ 30 shield is in error.
Northern End

87 ends on the north side of the Absecon Channel bridge in Brigantine and becomes Atlantic CR 638.

87 north ends.
