I-295 Ends

Southern End

I-295 enters Delaware on the Delaware Memorial Bridge with US 40 in Pennsville.

Original Northern End

In anticipation of the Somerset Freeway connection, 295 was originally only designated as far as a ghost interchange between Exits 71-72 in Hopewell Twp., with the rest of the freeway designated 95M (I-95 Mercer). A few ramp stubs were paved and grading was left for the proposed freeway as well as connection to a potential NJ 31 freeway that was also never built. 295 ended here until cancellation of the freeway in 1982.

Historic Northern End

Upon cancellation of the Somerset Freeway, 95M was extended to US 1 in Lawrence Twp. and 295 was truncated at Exit 67.

Signs like this connected travelers from 95M north to I-295 south on an all-freeway route to the NJ Turnpike and 95 north. The first one was located shortly before the end of 95M at the 1 interchange and the second was after that point on 295 south.

295 north ended at 1 and 95M south began.

Northern End

I-295 now enters Pennsylvania on the Scudders Falls Bridge in Ewing. Until 2018, this was the southern end of I-95 and I-295 ended at US 1 (Exit 67).
