Whites Ferry Road

All photos are courtesy Lou Corsaro from a dark and stormy morning in January.

The interesting feature of the road is the old Chesapeake & Ohio Canal bridge that it once crossed. With the canal out of service, as the bridge aged past its useful life the county (or town?) just filled in the canal for the roadbed instead of repairing it or building a new one. So what you see here is the eastern approach to the bridge ramping up onto its stone abutment.

The western abutment.

By Jove, the bridge still stands! At this point it's just the frame, but no one has taken it down, so from this angle you get the full bridge experience except for being able to drive on it.
