Maryland Roads - Franklinville

Franklinville

All you need to know about Franklinville is on the east side of Jericho Rd. as I head north, including Little Gunpowder Falls that powered the mills. The first historic house is at Greenhouse Lane.

Continuing north from Franklinville, Jericho Rd. crosses the "falls" into Harford County on the 1865 Jericho Covered Bridge.

The southbound approach to the bridge. The bridge-shaped wooden sign is at a walking trail, not for traffic.

Harford County has its own history in the Franklinville area, again based on a mill on the Falls. This sign is just northwest of the covered bridge on Jerusalem Rd., the north end of Jericho Rd.

The other bridge into Franklinville carries the eponymous road across the Falls and dates to 1884. If you haven't guessed by now, that river defines the county line. Photos are heading west, since I then turned north into town as you saw above.

Looking north and south from the bridge along Little Gunpowder Falls. Neither the Little nor the Big named rivers have anything that feels like a waterfall on them.

Finally, closing out with some west-side views of the bridge from Franklinville.
