Indiana Roads - US 136

US 136

Until 2011, the last EB gantry and first WB gantry on the route actually faced west and east, respectively. That's because US 136 crossed I-465, the last non-Interstate highway to do so, and then turned hard left from Crawfordsville Rd. into the I-74 interchange. Thus what is technically US 136 EB (but just signed to I-74/465) turns straight into a WB highway in the first photo. In the second photo, Crawfordsville Rd. turns from US 136 to the right to straight ahead toward Speedway (a town and a landmark, both).

Crawfordsville Rd. WB, courtesy Bill Donovan, showing how the signage ignores the stubby end of US 136 straight ahead. Not shown is that the road itself bears left.

Continuing on toward Indianapolis on Crawfordsville Rd., which was once the continued path of US 136, and appears to be known at least memorially as Hulman Way.

Onto I-74
Onto I-465
