Hawai`i Roads - HI 92

HI 92: Nimitz Highway, Ala Moana Blvd.

The first is the combined ramp from HI 92 EB and WB onto HI 99 WB (toward Arizona Mem. and [Aloha] Stadium - but why not call it Pearl Harbor?) and I-H1 WB (at Exit 15) on the west side of Honolulu Airport. The second is the EB onramp to I-H1 (at Exit 18) and former HI 90 on the east side of the airport.

WB past the Sand Island Access, approaching I-H1 at Exit 18. HI 92/Nimitz Hwy. continues underneath I-H1 on the north side of the airport and then breaks away again into Hickam AFB.

Old Hawai`i street sign after HI 92 has become Ala Moana Blvd., and then turning onto Punchbowl St. NB at Vineyard Blvd. (HI 98). The location of HI 98 suggests it was one of the last stretches of highway to be bypassed by I-H1. These shields are more like RIDOT than anything I've joked about on my other pages, right down to the shape of the shields, the inclusion of the state name, the bolder font, and the one-piece assembly. I'm hoping these and the others around the city were ordered by the City and County of Honolulu and not an HDOT job.

Not referring to HI 92 as Ala Moana Blvd., but to the Waikiki neighborhood in Honolulu. It's the last sign on HI 92 EB, at Kalia Rd., before it ends at Kalakaua Ave. 92 was once planned to bear off before this, about at Ala Wai Blvd., and follow Kapiolani Blvd. up to I-H1.

Onto I-H1
Onto HI 99
