Entering town on E. 6th St. southwest from DE 9/273. 6th St. used to be DE 9 before it was rerouted aroudn the town on parts of now-former DE 273 and DE 141.

Perhaps to mitigate the effects of the Great Depression, the Historic Markers Commission erected dozens, if not hundreds, of signs across the state in 1932. These are respectively along Chestnut St. between 3rd and 4th Streets (Veterans Triangle), at 3rd and Delaware Streets, and in Battery Park at the end of Delaware St.
