Renumbering Delaware


This renumbering only affects state routes, not US (including Alternate and Business routes) or Interstate. (Though I would extend US 113 back to US 13, that can happen with or without this system.) Because Delaware doesn't have all that many state highways, I haven't decommissioned any of them, though a few State Roads are upgraded to numbered highways. All highways fit within two digits. Even numbers are assigned from top to bottom of the state, with major routes ending in 0. Odd numbers are assigned in four tiers from west to east, with major routes ending in 5: DE 1 to DE 25 are in the north of the state, DE 35 to DE 45 are central, DE 55 to DE 69 are in the "mid-south," and DE 87 to DE 93 are in the far south. Of course, the tiers are fuzzy, since routes can potentially be long enough to visit two of them. The table lists routings from west to east and south to north.

Inspired by Idaho, but uniquely Delaware. And no county routes around for confusion.
