Business US 34

Leaving regular US 34, Business 34 (the old route) is two lanes each way until the C-257 overpass, where it slims down and then undivides itself into a regular two-lane road. These were EB in 1979 and the mid-1980's.

WB at C-257 in the mid-1980's, with a 50% chance of this actually being on plain US 34.

Your eyes do not deceive you, this WB exit is for C-257 SPUR. There is no spur route anymore, and in fact there is no exit here anymore. The road has been brought to meet Business 34 at a 90-degree angle because it's no longer a through road from Greeley to Windsor. It's not a through road at all - the western end at C-257 has been completely closed off. Your guess is as good as mine as to why this mattered, but there must have been some accidents at either end and CDOT couldn't think of a better way. Notice that the highway is just signed regular US 34 in these photos.

WB on the east side of Greeley, where that other route gets proper signage, but that seems to be more the exception than the rule, at least in the mid-1980's.

Heading east out of Greeley toward the merge with US 34 (regular) in the late 1980's.
