California Roads - Vermont Ave.

Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles

The more I travel L.A., the more "shotgun" signs I find, dating to between 1946 and 1962.

I also keep finding all different vintages of button copy, though I don't know how to date them well. I don't know that there's any further trailblazing to I-110 North, which is only okay because technically it's CA 110 north of I-10. This is a common mistake because the Harbor Fwy. extends north on CA 110 to US 101.

SB signs at the same place.

Old signs from Pico Blvd. north. The 5th St. one is SB, and the other two are NB. I get the feeling the 3rd St. sign is more of a 1946 than a 1962.

Old signs and a bonus lamppost on the US 101 overpass, NB.

There was one generation of old non-button copy signs, and one of them is SB here.

Can you tell I like these? These are cool. SB and then Lexington Ave. EB.

NB at Los Feliz Blvd. in the Los Feliz neighborhood of L.A. Griffith Observatory and more cool stuff is ahead, so click through below.
