Vermont - Poultney

Poultney

Bentley House is at the west end of Bentley Avenue where it curves to head to New York. The old house is just to the east on the corner of College Street.

College Street at Main Street, southeast and northeast corners. The latter is now Two Editors Inn, which is Green Mountain College's guesthouse.

Speaking of colleges, here we are at the gateway to Green Mountain College. It was founded in 1834 but only became a four-year college in 1974.

Along the south side of Main Street, heading west from VT Route 30.

Old house on Bearman Street, VT Route 30, on the east side north of Main Street.

Continuing east, Main Street becomes VT Route 140 and leads to the village of East Poultney. You will there find the United Baptist Church, as well as the old Eagle Tavern on the northeast corner of the green, because the best place for a tavern is next to a church?
