Texas - Franklin Mountains

Franklin Mountains

Photos are presented from east to west in the direction I drove.

Heading west on State Highway Loop 375 into the mountains from Northeast El Paso.

Looking left and right inside a mountain pass, where the road curves to head south briefly.

The "north" and "south" sides of the road. I'm not even sure which way I'm facing anymore.

Continuing up the mountain.

The sun lights up the "south" side of the road, which is very close to the east side at this point.

One look "north"/west. It would be much more scenic early in the morning, with the sun on the other side.

Up to a small parking area on the eastbound side (accessible from both directions), again looking to the sunnier southeast.

The north and east sides of the parking lot.

Up to the parking area at the summit. State Highway Loop 375 passes in front of these rocks to the east.

Views down from the summit, starting with the north (Loop 375 westbound).

Looking east up Loop 375 toward the summit.

Now down the mountains, panning from northwest to northeast.

A second pan, carrying around to the southeast.

The right and left sides of the previous photo, in detail.

Scenery to the south.

A different perspective, looking east from State Highway Spur 37. (Texas has Loops, Spurs, Beltways, Farm Roads, Ranch Roads, Urban Roads, Park Roads, NASA Roads... and still manages to have all sorts of regular highways as well. That's how big they are.)
