New Hampshire - Portsmouth - Court/State/Pleasant Sts.

Portsmouth - Court, State, Pleasant Streets

The first block heading west on Court Street, from the corner of Marcy Street to #423 Court at Atkinson Street.

The 1766 Earl of Halifax Hotel (later William Pitt Tavern) and 1815 Reuben Shapley Town House (#420 Court Street) stand at the southwest and southeast corners of Atkinson Street.

Continuing west on Court Street, the 1797 Thomas Bailey Aldrich House, #371 (nameless), and across from it, the 1820 Patch House (#372).

The 1805 Stephen Chase House (#358 Court) is at the southeast corner of Washington Street. The 1852 Frederick W. Fernald House (#369) is at the northeast corner.

Continuing west on the south side of Court Street.

The 1818 Treadwell-Jenness House is on the corner of Court and Pleasant Streets. Fun fact: The homeowner owns a large antiques business, so there's nothing special about the statue in front. It's just a rotating example of his collection.

Heading north on Pleasant Street to #40, the 1858 Custom House and Post Office at State Street.

Continuing north on Pleasant Street from State Street up to Market Square, just south of Congress Street and arguably the center of downtown Portsmouth.

The north side of State Street at Washington Street, and heading east.

And the south side of State Street.

At the northeast corner of State Street and Chapel Street.

Last but not least, I flip directions and head way west to #333 State Street, on the corner of Fleet Street.
