Kansas - Wamego

Wamego

Various angles of various buildings along Lincoln Avenue in Wamego (Kansas Highway 99, the main north-south road in town).

At the corner of Lincoln Avenue and 6th Street, there are wings to be found on two corners - metaphorical ones at the United Methodist Church, and actual ones atop the Rogers Building. There are actually two sets up wings up there, if you count the mourning dove. Birdception.

The 1879 Old Dutch Mill is in Wamego City Park east of downtown. It's part of what makes Wamego so interesting for a random east-central Kansan town, as well as slightly creepy with that worn face above the window. Who thought that was a good idea?

The centerpiece of City Park is not even the lake, but the statues on and around it. Art is in the middle, Science is on the outside, and both were transported here (of all places) from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. That's one fortuitous door prize. Click on Science for a closeup.
