Before getting to the capitol, Market St. runs into Meridian St. at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. The northern face is a memorial to the War with Mexico.


And the southern face is a memorial to the Civil War. The second photo is the western face.


Befitting a war monument, there are plenty of guns. The southern face is the beginning of the war and the western face is the end.
