Texarkana

Looking north on Pine St. from Front St. by Union Station. Brick streets are rare now but were one of the earliest types of paved road.

The south side of 3rd St. just east of the state line.

The west side of Walnut St. just south of 3rd St., now repurposed to a cafe.

Continuing along 3rd St., I come to City Hall. If it doesn't look like city hall, that's because this municipal building serves many functions, as you can see.

Details of the three engravings to the right of the auditorium entrance.

Here, on the Walnut Street side, is the actual City Hall. I wonder if the several functions are connected within.

The east side of the building, along Hazel St.

This little guy's in the wrong state. The nearest Cardinals are in St. Louis and Lamar, TX.

Like me, he was just checking out the unusual facade of the Juvenile Court Center on the north side of 5th St. between Walnut and Hazel Streets. Photos go from west (Walnut) to east (Hazel).

On the west side of Laurel St. just north of 4th St.

There's a far more interesting building on the east side.

Continuing east along 4th St. to the block between Pecan St. and Hickory St. (US 71). I can't quite make out what business preceded Ed Malcolm.

Irony. Pecan St. north of 4th St.

The Claude Foulke House on the NW corner of Pecan St. and 5th St. The little plaque says it's Classical Revival style.

On the NE corner of Pecan and 6th Streets, the Garrison-McLain House.

One more named house, the J.K. Wadley House on the east side of Pecan St. between 6th and 7th.

Another block north on Pecan and on the left.
