New I-195/US 6 in Providence

In 2007, construction on I-195 had progressed to the point where large portions of the future freeway were graded, the bridge was erected with deck framing and lateral bracing, and the I-95 interchange ramps were going up quickly. These photos are from the heart of the beast, and there are so many I've had to split them up onto three pages of 18 photos each. There are a few assorted extras below.

In the first photo, the back (mostly completed) ramp is from I-95 North, the second (incomplete) ramp is from I-195 to I-95 South, and the piers are for the I-95 South ramp to I-195 (carrying US 6 EB). The others are from a similar vantage point, all taken 2/16/07.

A brief look at construction of the realigned I-195, which will go south of the existing alignment and come in just north of I-95 Exit 18 (US 1A). This photo was taken from I-95 NB on 9/17/05. Below (9/24), the first photo is from Exit 19 (Eddy St.) on I-95 SB, where the ramp continuation to Allens Ave. has been closed permanently for the WB-SB ramp, and the rest are from US 1A SB.

The next-to-last photo looks east at a tall, new embankment, with I-195 structural components peeking over the top. The last photo looks southwest (remember, we're SB on US 1A) at the NB-EB and WB-SB ramps.
