New York Roads - Hojack Swing Bridge

Hojack Swing Bridge

This former railroad bridge is north of the end of the Lake Ontario State Parkway in Irondequoit. All photos are from the western shore of the Genesee River.

The last two photos are one atop the other (I left a bit of overlap so you can see how they fit together) where the bridge tender "lived." The bridge is permanently swung open now and peacefully awaiting demolition, the Hojack Line having gone out of commission decades ago.

Speaking of demolition, I returned on Thanksgiving weekend, 2012 to find most of the bridge truss removed. I guess that's one way to lug out heavy iron.
