Old US 441, Orange CR 500A and former FL S-500A

On the former alignment of US 441 in Mt. Dora and Tavares, former FL S-500A, courtesy J.P. Nasiatka.

Courtesy Costa Ioannidis, southbound leaving Mt. Dora, crossing into Orange County where old US 441 becomes CR 500A to hint at the old number. The shields are faded brown, a remnant of the color era. Since so little of this road is in Orange County (which contains the attention-grabber known as Orlando), these shields may be here awhile yet.

On FL S-500A in both directions, and then inside the maintenance yard where those signs are, courtesy Michael Summa. These were outside Ocala just off US 27, and were taken in 1984 back when this was still FL S-500A. Obviously, this is a different S-500A than the one in Mt. Dora, but since FL 500 is ghosting US 441 along this stretch, every old alignment has the potential to be an A (and would have been a secondary route).

Onto current US 441
