Marine Fuel Tax routes are those built with money from that particular tax, serving recreational areas around lakes. All of the southern Lake Ouachita accesses off of US 270 are numbered 949. I suppose it saves on numbering, though most states would just as soon use lettered suffixes instead as a somewhat neater solution.
